Nestled together in tenderness, these woodpigeons symbolise quiet togetherness, peaceful communication, and the importance of home.
Symbolism: Peace, family & home.
Woodpigeons embody calmness, with their gentle tenderness and soft, rhythmic cooing. They mate for life, and often return to the same nesting spot year after year, symbolising the importance of home. Both parents play active roles in caring for their offspring. They work together to build their nest, taking turns to gather materials and create a safe space.
They also share egg guarding duties. Once the chicks, known as squabs, have hatched, both parents feed their young a special crop milk (a nutrient-rich secretion from their crop). Both parents guard against threats, symbolising a cooperative family life, with a focus on nurturing and protecting the home.

This ‘Patchwork blossom’ print in soft spring green celebrates the clouds of hawthorn blossom that fill our hedgerows in May. Hawthorn is also known as May Bush and the flower represents the birthday month of May. This print speaks of newness and the power of fresh beginnings.
Symbolism: new beginnings, protection, love, renewal and transformation
Hawthorn symbolises protection through its thorny branches, love with its blossoms, renewal in its seasonal rebirth, and transformation in its changing forms.
The poem reads:
A swirling froth of clouding, scenting sweetness.
Light trickles whitely onto pure soft petals,
interstitched with new green.
Sky stitching through pierced petals.
Leaves a stain of fresh blueness
on your tongue.
